About Pulze
Pulze Controllers builds custom controllers for people who care how their controller feels. PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Marius board builds for PC — each one modified to order, by hand, in Sahuarita, Arizona.
I'm Christian Casillas, and I started Pulze in October 2020. I'm an electrical engineer by trade, working in the missiles and defense industry, and I've been competing in Call of Duty since 2009. Those two things are most of the explanation. I understand the hardware because designing and testing electronics is my profession, and I know what a controller has to survive in a match because I've spent fifteen years on the other side of one.
I'm the person who fixes these things. Before I sell you a thumbstick module I've had a hundred of them on the bench and know exactly which part wears out and why. Every opinion on this site about parts comes from repairs, not from a spec sheet.
How a Pulze controller gets made
You choose the spec
Either you build it yourself in the 3D builder — every shell, button, trigger and stick — or you take a Pulze Core, which is the spec we fit most often, already decided.
It gets built by hand
Every controller is opened up and modified to order. Rear buttons fitted and mapped, smart triggers and bumpers installed, thumbstick modules swapped, shells changed. Nothing is pulled off a shelf pre-made.
It gets tested
Every input is checked before anything ships — sticks, triggers, bumpers, rear buttons, and the remap if there is one. A controller that is not right does not leave.
It ships certified
Your controller arrives with its Pulze Controller Certification. That is the date your warranty runs from, and what we ask for if you ever need a repair.
The detail
What we do
- Build custom PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series controllers to order
- Build Marius board controllers for PC — MH5, MH4 and XSX Pro
- Keep Pulze Core controllers ready to ship in 1-3 days
- Repair controllers, ours and other people's
- Fit upgrades to a controller you already own
- Keep repairing controllers long after the warranty has ended
How we work
- Built to order, not assembled in batches
- Every controller tested by hand before it ships
- Fixed prices on common jobs, quoted before we touch anything unusual
- Parts we would fit to our own controllers, nothing cheaper
- Straight answers about what a repair will and will not fix
Why Pulze exists
A stock controller is built to a price, for millions of people, and none of them are you. For most of what most people do with one, that is completely fine. It stops being fine when you play the same game for hours at a stretch and need an input to register the same way at the end of a session as it did at the start.
The parts that give out are not a mystery either. A thumbstick drifts because a contact arm rubs against a track every time you move it, and that track wears down. Triggers pick up travel. Bumpers go soft. These are wear items on a device most people have been taught to treat as disposable — and the companies that make them would rather sell you a whole new controller than a small replacement part.
Both of those are solvable problems. That is the entire reason Pulze is here: to build a controller around how one particular person plays, and then to keep that controller alive instead of replacing it.
A controller should never be the reason you lost. Anyone who has competed has had hardware pick the worst possible moment to go wrong, and it is a bad feeling that has nothing to do with how well you played. Taking that off the table is worth more than any number on a spec sheet.
What that means in practice
What I'll always do
- Build it around how you play, not around what is easiest to stock
- Test every input by hand before it ships
- Quote a repair after I have seen the controller, never before
- Repair a controller years after you bought it, at a fair price
- Tell you plainly which parts are wear items, because most of them are
What I won't do
- Sell you an upgrade that will not change anything for your game
- Pretend a modified controller never needs servicing
- Fit a cheaper part to protect a margin
- Promise a repair will fix something before I know that it will
- Talk you into a second controller when the first one is fine
Already own the controller?Send it in. Almost everything we fit to a new build can be fitted to the one you already have, and the common repairs are fixed price.
